Sandra Plauškaitė (piano)
Born in 1994 in Klaipeda (Lithuania) and began taking piano lessons there at the age of 7 at the E. Balsys gymnasium of arts, going on to graduate with top honors in 2013. During these years Sandra has got some prizes in the international competitions such as “Music without limits” in Druskininkai (Lithuania), polish piano music competition, dedicated to F.Chopin in Vilnius (Lithuania), young talents competition in Val Tidone (Italy) and others. In 2015 Sandra has participated in those big competitions as Aarhus International Piano Competition (Denmark) and Cezar Franck International Piano competition (Belgium). In 2018 she got 3rd prize at RDAM piano competition (Denmark).
What is more, she is sponsored by scholarships from different foundations: Viskum, Holger Arndts foundation, Erna og Jan Løgstrups Fond, Feldthusens Fond, Torp-Pedersens Fond, Oticon fonden, Thyra Rosa Johansens Fond, DKDMs Fond for Pianister and a big donation for studies in Sibelius Academy (Helsinki, Finland) from Gustaf Packalèns Memorial foundation.
Without competitive activity Sandra has taken part in festivals and participated in masterclasses with great pianists and teachers as: Irina Osipova, Epifanio Comis, Violetta Egorova, Eugen Indjic, Daniele Petralia, Eero Heinonen, Stefan Sheja, Vladislav Bronevetzky, David Lively, Kristin Merscher, Peter Donahoe, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Boris Berman and others.
Her solo repertoire includes works by a wide range of composers, from 17th to 21st century. However, the romantic period dominates a significant part of the repertoire. Also, Sandra is a passionate chamber music performer. She enjoys playing in all kind of ensembles (as well as in experimental and not traditional ensembles).
Sandra’s studies took place at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Her prominent professors were Anne Øland, Jens Elvekjær, Erik T. Tawaststjerna, and Juhani Lagerspetz.
